Eric Bischoff: New Day Hosting WrestleMania is ‘A Big Step Forward In Their Careers’

On a recent episode of his podcast, Eric Bischoff congratulated The New Day on their gig hosting WrestleMania 33 in Orlando. Bischoff said that the trio will be under a lot of pressure, but if they can come through, it will be a huge opportunity for them to advance their careers.

"I wouldn’t want to be in their shoes (laughs). I can tell you that. I’ve never been afraid or intimidated or really ever been nervous in front of a crowd. No matter how big or small the situation was. Man, having that kind of pressure on you. They’re already planning next year’s WrestleMania for crying out loud. That’s a lot of pressure on a talent and you’ve got to know that Vince McMahon, along with everybody around him, is going to be watching every breath you take and every step you make. However the song goes. Congratulations to them. It’s a big opportunity. If they step up, which I am sure they will, they are obviously in that position for a reason. Vince McMahon, Kevin Dunn, Triple H and whoever else is involved have a lot of confidence in them and they’ve earned that confidence. Congratulations to them. I am sure it will be a big step forward in their career and I am happy to see it."

The New Day, consisting of fan favorites Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods, held the WWE Tag Titles for 483 days, breaking Demolition's record for longest title reign, before losing the belts at Roadblock: End of the Line to Sheamus & Cesaro on December 18. Since then, they've been dropped out of the tag title scene, and are now running a storyline where they are developing a machine that makes ice cream.

With the announcement last week that they will be hosting WrestleMania 33, it looks as though they won't be wrestling on the grandest stage of them all this year.
