UFC 108 Headliner Set By Big Welterweight Tilt

UFC Fight Night 108 has a new main event and it will be taking place in the welterweight division as #3 Demian Maia will take on #6 Jorge Masvidal.

The original main event for the show, Cub Swanson versus Artem Lobov, will now serve as the evening's co-main event.

Maia (24-6-0) will be entering the fight on a six fight winning streak, with those wins coming over Alexander Yakovlev, Ryan LaFlare, Neil Magny, Gunnar Nelson, Matt Brown and Carlos Condit. Maia has previously challenged for the UFC Middleweight Title, losing to then-champion Anderson Silva at UFC 112. Maia’s currently winning streak has lasted over three years.

Masvidal (32-11-0) will be entering the fight while riding a three fight winning streak, defeating the trio of Ross Pearson, Jake Ellenberger and Donald Cerrone. Masvidal has fought as both a lightweight and as a welterweight in the UFC, he has been with the promotion for nearly four years. Masvidal has previously challenged for the Strikeforce Lightweight Title, losing to Gilbert Melendez at a December 2011 Strikeforce card.

UFC Fight Night 108 takes place on Saturday, April 22 from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
