Vitor Belfort Says He’s Ready For A Test

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Vitor Belfort will be headlining UFC Fight Night 106, where he faces Kelvin Gastelum.

The Brazilian star, who’s currently on a three fight losing streak, says that he’s ready for the next test in his career.

"It’s always good to know that people want to fight you,” he said to MMA Fighting. "You're a legend and people want to prove themselves, test themselves, and for me it’s important. The same way I’m a motivation for the young (generation), I have them as motivation for me. I want to test myself. I think it’s going to be great. I want to fight those who are at the top, those who want to fight me. He’s aggressive and comes forward. It’s a good match-up. I think it’s going to be a great test, a great competition for me. I’m motivated and confident. I’m sure of the victory."

Belfort is nearing 40 years old, but the former champion wants to keep on fighting and he credits his family for keeping him going.

"My head coaches are Joana, Davi, Vitoria and Kyara (his wife & kids),” said Belfort. "When there’s a change, everything changes. Not only from me, but everything around me needed to change, too. You have to change everything around you."

UFC Fight Night 106 takes place on Saturday, March 11 from the Centro de Formacao Olimpica do Nordeste in Fortaleza, Brazil with Kelvin Gastelum and Vitor Belfort headlining. the main card airs live on Fox Sports 1.
