More On CM Punk’s Return To Wrestling, AEW Debut
CM Punk returned to pro wrestling, and Fightful has gained some more details about the spot.
AEW talent had obviously been discussing the return for weeks, but all that we spoke to claim they were never told outright by Tony Khan or AEW that Punk would be there until he showed up at the venue. Instead, he was listed and referred to as a “guest.”
We’re told that CM Punk was smiling, happy, and easy to talk to and get along with backstage, as one would expect based on that promo. He wasn’t hidden backstage, and socialized and took pictures with the roster, even before the debut happened. Much of the roster was at the curtain or by the monitors backstage to watch what happened.
While he was there, he also did promo photos and the like, and went out to dinner with some of the roster and friends after, as announcer Tony Schiavone later detailed on his podcast.
The entire roster was not present at the August 20 Rampage, so there will be some that actually meet CM Punk for the first time the following week at Dynamite.
