Roy Jones Jr. Wants To Fight Anderson Silva On A Mayweather vs. McGregor Undercard

While the world seemingly will never get an answer as to whether or not Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather will ever duke it out in a ring, octagon or whatever battlefield they choose, other fighters are busy showing interest in fighting in that fantasy matchup undercard.

Roy Jones Jr., one of the biggest boxers in the sport in the 90's and 2000's, said he would be interested in fighting in the Floyd vs. Conor undercard and wants to fight MMA legend Anderson Silva.

After Jones won his latest fight against Bobby Gunn on February 17 for the vacant WBF cruiserweight title, Jones said a fight against Silva would boost the hypothetical card.

“I think if you put Roy Jones Jr. versus [former UFC middleweight champion] Anderson Silva as the co-main event, you got yourself a good daggone fight card,” Jones said.

Both men are still competing despite their relative old age, with Silva defeating Derek Brunson via unanimous decision at UFC 208.

There still seems to be no guarantee as to whether or not Mayweather and McGregor will actually do fight. Reports seem to contradict on a regular basis on whether or not the dream matchup will happen or not. Floyd has said at various times that he is happily retired, but has not completely shut down the window on fighting the current UFC Lightweight Champion.
