Tony Khan Says The Fuego Del Sol Contract Presentation During AEW Rampage Was A “Complete Shoot”
Fuego Del Sol had no idea what was in store for him at AEW Rampage.
On Friday, August 12, All Elite Wrestling debuted their newest weekly series, Rampage. One of the three featured matches saw Fuego Del Sol challenge Miro for his TNT Championship. Also on the line for Feugo was a contract with AEW.
Though he got out to an early start with a trifecta of tornado DDTs, Fuego was not able to overcome The Redeemer. After the bell, Miro added insult to injury, ripping up the contract in the middle of the ring.
When the show returned from commercial, with Fuego still in the ring, Tony Khan sent Sammy Guevara down the ramp with a new contract to present to his friend. After working for the promotion for over a year, Fuego Del Sol was officially made “All Elite.”
Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Tony Khan revealed that the contract presentation was a “shoot” and that no one but Sammy knew that was going to happen.
“That was a complete shoot,” said Khan. “Fuego had no idea that was going to happen. Sammy was the only person I told, and Fuego was legitimately surprised to receive the contract he’s been dreaming of and chasing.”
Fuego Del Sol currently has a record of 1-40 in All Elite Wrestling.
