Tyler Breeze On WWE Cracking Down On Twitch: The Boys Will Always Mess It Up For The Boys

On September 5, 2020 it was reported Vince McMahon sent a message to talent, asking them to stop engaging on third party platforms such as Cameo and Twitch. WWE confirmed the report and issued a statement on the matter, saying they were looking to protect their intellectual property and partner with third party platforms on a company-wide basis.

Tyler Breeze was a prominent streamer on Twitch, but had to shut down his stream due to the new mandate.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Breeze discussed WWE cracking down on Twitch.

“Obviously, everyone threw their hands up in the air when they stopped everything. It’s one of those things where it’s a saying that lasts for a long time, ‘The boys will always mess it up for the boys.’ I was streaming on Twitch for two years and nobody noticed or paid attention because I was doing it properly,” he said. “When you’re under a certain banner, and this is media training, if I’m live and I represent myself horribly when you’re with a company, the headline doesn’t read Matt Clement. It now says ‘WWE superstar’ or ‘AEW superstar.’ Now, you have to be mature enough to realize you represent a bigger entity and you have to conduct yourself accordingly, which I did, so nobody noticed so for two years I was doing my thing. Then, people noticed and were like, ‘Oh, we can do this or do that’ and they jump on and don’t do things according to how they should, whether it’s using intellectual property or giving away things they shouldn’t be giving away, they violate certain things and eventually the guy who is in charge of everything will say, ‘You know what, everything is stopped, you’ve ruined it. I can’t go case by case.’ From a business standpoint, would you let everything go or would you blanket it?”

Breeze quickly resumed his Twitch stream once he was released by the company on June 25.

Elsewhere during the interview, Breeze discussed not wanting to go to AEW just yet. You can find his full comments by clicking here
