Report: Bray Wyatt Cleared Prior To WWE Release, Signed New Deal In 2020

More details regarding the release of Bray Wyatt.

On Saturday, July 31, WWE released “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt in a move that surprised many fans. Wyatt last wrestled at WrestleMania 37, losing to Randy Orton. He appeared on the subsequent episode of WWE Raw with a new Firefly Fun House, but had not been on television since.

Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated reports Wyatt was cleared from an “undisclosed physical ailment,” which was not concussion-related, on Thursday, July 29 before his release on Saturday.

Barrasso goes on to report that Wyatt had signed a new deal with WWE in 2020, though the length of the deal was not given. The report also notes that Wyatt does have a 90-day non-compete clause.

Wyatt was reportedly released due to “budget cuts.”

Fghtful Select reported “the notion of a budget cut immediately surprised those within WWE, as Wyatt is known as being a great merch seller whenever he’s actually active. One source indicated that Wyatt was a money maker for the company when that’s the case.”

Fightful Select also confirmed tentative creative plans were in place for his return.
