Reginald Reveals He’s Not French, Pretended To Be A Sommelier To Get A Foot Into The Door Of WWE
Not everyone is who they appear to be.
Reginald made his main roster debut in late 2020 as Carmella’s new sommelier and stood by her side until March when she fired him. He would then enter into a storyline with Sasha Banks before joining forces with Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. Since parting way with them, he has captured the 24/7 Championship, defeating Akira Tozawa on the July 19 episode of Raw.
On July 30, Reginald defended the belt against Chad Gable, winning via disqualification after Otis got involved in the match. After the show, he was interviewed backstage and explained what he meant when he said that he would do anything to be in WWE. Here is what he said:
“Look, I’m not from France, I’m from St. Louis, Missouri. I’ve been a fan of WWE my entire life. I saw a posting that Carmella needed a sommelier. I thought, I can do that. But she wanted me to speak French and also speak in a French accent. I’m like, if I need to do this, I certainly can. But that was never the goal. My goal was to get a foot into the door, and now I’m the 24/7 Champion.”
