Damian Priest Still Wants To Win The NXT Championship At Some Point In His WWE Career

Damian Priest still one day hopes to be the top guy in NXT.

Damian Priest had a short but memorable run in NXT. Despite the fact that he was not a part of the black and gold brand for long, Priest was an NXT North American Champion. He was also part of one of the most famous “Triple H point” photos in existence with himself in a hot tub surrounded by two women after capturing the NXT North American Championship.

Currently, Priest is on Monday Night Raw. Despite this, he tells the Battleground Podcast that one day, he hopes to become NXT Champion, citing Finn Balor as an example of a Superstar who has gone back to NXT successfully, and Priest also says there are still people in that brand that he hopes to work with one day in WWE.

“I mean, there’s a lot of guys that I wish I could have had the opportunity to work with. Obviously, that’s not saying that we were never going to work because it’s still WWE, right? Whether it happens here or I go back or whatever. But yeah, there are definitely more moments, there are definitely championships I wanted to be the NXT Champion. You know, unfortunately, I didn’t get that opportunity. But again, you never know, you know, Finn Balor’s done it, you know, so I don’t see why not down the line. If that opportunity presents itself, I’ll take advantage of it. But at the same time, there are no regrets about how I did things. I mean, obviously, everything worked out the way it should have, you know, I got to have good experiences, I got to become North American Champion. I got to have great matches with a lot of incredible talent. So at the end of the day, it was still a successful and positive NXT run.”

Elsewhere on the same podcast, Damian Priest recalls Bad Bunny specifically requesting that Priest be a part of his WrestleMania storyline against The Miz and John Morrison. Learn more here.
