Mark Henry On CM Punk And Daniel Bryan Possibly Joining AEW: I Don’t Want To Know, Let Me Be A Fan

Mark Henry has a history with both CM Punk and Daniel Bryan, facing both men in WWE in world title programs.

Though Tony Khan has issued a “no comment” on Bryan and Punk potentially joining AEW, Henry has commented and he would prefer to just be a fan.

“I think it’s amazing if it happens. As a fan, I want to see it. But I don’t want to know. Don’t tell me. Let me find out like the fans, so I can react just like the fans. I’m not the gossipy type. I won’t walk around the locker room trying to get gossip. I don’t want that, but I do think either gentleman or both gentlemen would be groundbreakers. They would be able to do something in AEW like when Hulk Hogan and Bret Hart went to WCW from WWE. It would be a positive step. It’s not like we have to have that in AEW, but they would be welcomed additions,” Henry told Scott Fishman of TVInsider.

While it is not confirmed if Punk and/or Bryan will end up in AEW, it is confirmed that Henry will serve as an announcer for AEW Rampage, which debuts on August 13.

Speaking on the differences between Dynamite and Rampage, Henry said, “I can tell you right now there is going to be a lot more humor in the commentating. As far as the show, AEW speaks for itself as a brand. You know what you’re going to get with the excitement, the athleticism. We want to make sure it’s more deliberate and shocking to the system. I think that AEW has already done that. My job is not to change anything. I’m just knocking some of the dust off and making a prettier picture. The business has never been better here. Every day it surges forward.”

Along with his upcoming announcing gig on Rampage, Henry works in the AEW talent development department.

FIghtful will have live coverage of AEW Dynamite beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
