MLW Announces New Mini-Series, Set To Debut In August 2021
MLW is adding to its catalogue of programming.
On July 24, MLW released its Battle Riot III event onto YouTube. Ahead of the signature match, a teaser aired for a new mini-series titled Fusion Alpha which is set to debut next month. An exact date, however, was not given.
Details on the show are scarce, with the only information coming from the on-screen text and images (which included the Azteca Underground logo) during the announcement. This is what it said:
“The world has changed. Wrestling is at war! Invasions! Alliances! Raids! Jumps! Beware!! Major League Wrestling is under attack. Who will rise up? An Underground Revolution begins. A deal with the devil?! Who do you trust? A league is shattered? MLW Fusion Alpha. A mini-series. August 2021.”
Cesar Duran kicked of MLW’s Battle Riot III and announced that he had reached an agreement with MLW by which his company, Azteca Underground, would promote fights for MLW. Furthermore, he says that he made a deal with Court Bauer to be the matchmaker in MLW.
It was back at the beginning of May that Duran was revealed as the faction’s mysterious leader, operating in the shadows and pulling all of the strings. The former Lucha Underground proprietor said that he was building a temple, a sentiment that he reiterated to the crowd in Philadelphia. How Duran and Azteca Underground will factor into Fusion Alpha remains to be seen.
