Peter Avalon Credits Cody Rhodes With Having A Hand In The Directional Change Of His Character
Just because he was a librarian, that doesn’t mean he stopped being pretty.
Peter Avalon entered AEW as one of the librarians but has seen a change in character over the past number of months, evolving into Pretty Peter Avalon. Since then, he has linked up with JD Drake, Ryan Nemeth, and Cezar Bononi to form The Wingmen.
Speaking on AEW’s ‘Unrestricted‘ podcast, Avalon shared that Cody Rhodes played a part in finding a direction for the Pretty Peter character, helping distinguish him as something more than your generic pretty boy. He said the following:
“He absolutely had a hand in the direction that we went with it in AEW. Pretty Peter is just me. That’s just the way I live my life. I’ve been Pretty Peter for all – I’m in my thirteenth year of wrestling now, that’s been pretty much what I’ve done. For a little while, I switched over to a gimmick called Professional Peter. Then when I was running the Arizona television show I was Producer Peter. So I kind of keep a theme. But, I’ve always been Pretty. Cody for sure had a hand in the energy change we went to with like the whole model walk-off and the loving not only myself but loving just beauty and everyone, and kind of leaning more so in that direction. I appreciate Cody really diving in and helping me find a direction to kind of go with it instead of just being a generic pretty boy.”
The Wingmen are regularly featured on AEW Dark and AEW Dark: Elevation, both in the ring and in vignettes.
In a recent interview, Ryan Nemeth explained how Christian Cage came up with the Wingmen group. Click here to find out more.
