Derrick Lewis Thinks Travis Browne Is A Woman Beater
Derrick Lewis will be headlining his second straight UFC event this weekend when he faces Travis Browne at UFC Fight Night 105.
Browne was accused by an ex-girlfriend of domestic violence in 2015, but the UFC found no evidence to support the claims. Still, Lewis still believes Browne is guilty of the deed.
“I believe it,” Lewis told MMA Junkie. “I believe he did put his hands on his (ex-girlfriend). But he’s looking for some motivation. I can look at that as a type of motivation as well. At the end of the day I’m not fighting to be Superman or anything like that, going like Captain Save-A-You-Know-What. I’m just really doing it for the money. I’m not really going out there trying to save these women.”
Lewis’s first UFC main event was a decision victory over Shamil Abdurakhimov at UFC Fight Night 102.
Domestic violence accusations aside, Lewis also wanted to fight Browne because he feels that Browne is one of the best heavyweights in the UFC.
“I wanted to fight Travis because he’s one of the top heavyweights in the division,” Lewis said. “It’s a tough fight for me, but I still wanted that challenge. I believe fighting a top-10 guy like this is just going to bring a better fighter out of myself.”
UFC Fight Night 105 takes place on Sunday, February 19 from the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada with Derrick Lewis and Travis Browne headlining.
