Raquel Gonzalez: Dakota Kai Is The Only Person Who Believed In Me When They Said I Wasn’t Ready
Raquel Gonzalez is on top of the NXT women’s division as the reigning NXT Women’s Champion. Before she won the NXT Women’s Title from Io Shirai, she was one-half of the first-ever NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions alongside Dakota Kai.
Gonzalez had been on television for less than a year when she had already won both NXT women’s championships. And she credits Kai for believing in her.
“Dakota Kai has been a huge influence on my rise,” Gonzalez told Newshub. “Dakota is the only person who believed in me when everyone else said I wasn’t ready. If it wasn’t for Dakota Kai I wouldn’t have made the impact I made in my debut and I wouldn’t have become one half of the women’s tag team champions or one half of the very first women’s Dusty Cup winners. We have made history together. I wouldn’t be standing here as the NXT women’s champion. Dakota Kai has my back and I have hers – 100 percent”
After successfully defending her NXT Women’s Championship against Ember Moon at NXT TakeOver: In Your House, Gonzalez & Kai teamed up to defeat Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter on the subsequent episode of NXT.
