JTG: ‘I Wanna Make Sure I Represent Cryme Tyme And Shad Gaspard In The Best Light Possible’

JTG is carrying the legacy of Cryme Tyme and Shad Gaspard with him in the National Wrestling Alliance.

JTG has been experiencing a career resurgence as a single competitor in National Wrestling Alliance. Chasing after the National Championship, JTG is not only fighting for himself but the memory of his blue merge acting partner, Shad Gaspard.

Shad and JTG were known as Cryme Tyme in WWE and even following their WWE releases, Shad and JTG were still working independent dates together until Shad’s untimely passing in 2020.

Speaking with Metro, JTG explains how he is not only fighting for his passion but the passion of Shad Gaspard as well.

“Besides my passion, it would definitely be representing both Shad and myself. I’m not just representing myself anymore. When people see JTG, Jay Tha Gawd, they automatically think of Shad. I wanna make sure I represent the team and myself and him in the best light possible and keep Cryme Tyme alive with whatever I do forwards.”

When asked whether or not the tag team would have been able to adjust to the modern wrestling scene, JTG says their natural entertainment and charisma would shine through.

“I think we’d have adjusted pretty good. Shad is always big on telling stories too, so we would definitely have took some adjusting,” he pondered. “When Cryme Tyme’s together, we’re a bunch of entertainers, and you’d have had to definitely incorporate a lot of our entertaining tag team spots and the mischievous deeds we did into our story.”

JTG further explains why the NWA’s storytelling elements fit himself and the rest of the roster.

“I would say that a good 95% of the roster has that mindset,” he said. “Everyone seems to be on the same page. We’re here to tell a story and bring old-school wrestling back!”
