Mick Foley Recalls The Time Braun Strowman Got Chewed Out By Vince For Calling A “Title Match” A “Title Shot”

Mick Foley, during a guest appearance on "Making Their Way To The Ring With Lillian Garcia," recalled a recent occasion that perfectly illustrates how much of stickler Vince McMahon can be when it comes to the preferred nomenclature.

In other words, if Vince says you should call a thing by a certain name, you better not call it something else.

In this case, the offending party was none other than "The Monster Among Men," Braun Strowman, and the offense he committed was to call a "Title Match" a "Title Shot."

This happened during the January 30th episode of Monday Night Raw, when Strowman interrupted a Kevin Owens in-ring promo and said "I want the title shot that you promised me." You can watch the offense being committed at the 1:55 mark of the above video.

Here is how Foley described what went down:

"I was about to go out there a couple weeks ago, and I heard Braun Strowman say," I want a title shot." Mr. McMahon's behind the curtain, at the board watching the monitor, and he goes, "Oh god, it's not a title shot." I was thinking to myself, then what is it? That's exactly what I would go to call it when I would go out there. You want a title shot. He's like, "it's a title match. It's a match!" So if you ever wonder what it's like to see a six-foot-eight, three hundred pound behemoth get chewed out, you should've been there."

Foley doesn't elaborate, or tell us if Vince lit into Strowman after the segment or waited until the end of the night, but if he did let him have it right away, that might explain why he was harboring such anger during his Title Shot Match with Kevin Owens later that night.

Or it could be because he's a giant, fury-stoked rage monster, and that's the only setting he operates on.

Either way.
