Cyborg Not Waiting For Germaine De Randamie
Current Invicta Fighting Championships Featherweight Champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino was in attendance at UFC 208, where Germaine De Randamie defeated Holly Holm to become the first ever UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion.
De Randamie is potentially undergoing hand surgery in the near future, which is something Cyborg feels the UFC needs to focus on.
“This isn’t on me,” Justino said to MMA Junkie. “The UFC has to handle it, and I just have to keep training. If she has to do surgery on her hands, for sure, the UFC is going to care about this.”
Cyborg is in the midst of a waiting period herself, as she’s paused her career to see if USADA will be handing her any form of punishment for a potential failed drug test in 2016.
The Invicta FC Featherweight Champion feels she’s the best in the world and De Randamie will have to fighter her at some point in the future.
“She doesn’t have to want (to fight me),” Justino said. “She has to fight me. I’m the No. 1 contender. I’m the world champion for 10 years, and she already knows, when she defends the belt, the next fight will be me. I feel like I’m an MMA a fighter, and she’s just a striker. And we’re going to fight in MMA. I’ll be prepared for any situation. We’ll have to see if she’s prepared for any situation.”
Cyborg has already earned a pair of victories under the UFC banner, with those wins coming over Leslie Smith and Lina Lansberg.
