Rob Font On Potential Dominick Cruz Bout: “Nobody’s Dying To See Him Fight”, More News | Fightful Fix Roundup

It appears as if Rob Font has little to no interest in fighting former champion Dominick Cruz — Fightful has you covered in why Font has no interest in that potential matchup and other news from around the world of Mixed Martial Arts.

Rob Font Has No Interest In Fighting ‘Boring’ Dominick Cruz

There are many fights in the UFC’s 135-pound bantamweight division that interest rising contender Rob Font…just not former champion Dominick Cruz.

Fresh off of a dominant decision victory over former champion Cody Garbrandt, the Boston-native Font spoke with MMA Fighting to discuss what’s next for him in the division.

“Maybe the Aldo fight [would interest me],” said Font. “The Cruz one, not so much. He’s nowhere near that belt at all [while] Jose is a little closer. [Dominick] has the name but nobody’s dying to watch Dominick Cruz fight. If anything, I’d probably fight Sean O’Malley before I’d fight Dominick Cruz.”

“That’s the guy that’s kind of buzzing right now,” Font said of O’Malley. “He’s got that name and I can’t wait for him to fight [next]. Nobody is sitting here dying to watch Dominick Cruz fight. But I’m not gonna lie, I wouldn’t mind watching a ‘Sugar’ Sean fight. I think he’s the bigger name if anything.”

Carla Esparza ‘Confident’ Title Shot Is Next

Carla Esparza is fairly certain that a rematch against champion Rose Namajunas is next.

The former UFC strawweight champion is rolling, coming off of a dominant TKO victory over Yan Xionan at UFC Vegas 27 and in the process, has earned herself another shot at UFC gold.

“I felt like I really needed to make a statement and there was a lot riding on this fight,” Esparza told MMA Fighting. “I felt like I needed to make a statement to solidify my spot for a potential title fight.”

“I do feel confident. It’s the only fight that makes sense,” said Esparza. “Come on, Dana. She wants the fight, too. She loves rematches that she’s lost. I feel with a dominant performance over the No. 3 fighter in the division, I think for me and my opinion, that should be hands down my title fight. I think that makes sense. It’s the fight that the fans want to see. It’s an intriguing matchup with an intriguing storyline.”

Dana White Open To Speaking With Diego Sanchez, Won’t Pay Attention To ‘Batsh*t Crazy’ Joshua Fabia

The saga between Joshua Fabia and the UFC will seemingly never end.

UFC veteran Diego Sanchez parted ways with his outlandish manager/coach, Joshua Fabia earlier this week but that hasn’t stopped Fabia’s name from being throw around in the news.

UFC President Dana White is one of many who have spoken out against Sanchez’s former coach and didn’t hold back when speaking about the situation with Yahoo Sports.

“I haven’t really paid attention to any of that,” said White. “I don’t care what that guy says. This is one of those things, I was just telling the media the other day, every time you guys ask me about the Triller guys. It’s like come on, you want a reaction from me. That’s what you’re looking for. I feel the same way about this kid [Joshua Fabia]. All you guys know this kid’s batsh*t nuts and whatever. If Diego needs me, just like the last however many years, Diego’s never been that needy guy. I did see where he came out and said ‘I’ve been trying to talk to Dana for …’ — Diego Sanchez can pick up the phone and call me. Any of those TUF kids. I had a falling out a few years ago with Josh Koscheck. If Josh Koscheck picked up the phone and called me, I would talk to Josh Koscheck. If any of those kids needed me, all they’ve got to do is pick up the phone and call me. Diego Sanchez, this will always be his house, always be a part of the history of this company and as long as I’m here, he’ll always be respected for what he’s done for the UFC and The Ultimate Fighter.”

“I don’t really care what anybody says,” White continued. “When I tell you I don’t give a f*ck, I could not be more honest when I tell you I don’t give a f*ck. But I love Diego Sanchez, I always will and if Diego needs me all he needs to do is pick up the phone.

“I don’t know. I honestly don’t know,” said White after asked about giving Sanchez a final fight in the UFC. “Even when we were doing his farewell fight, I didn’t love it. I didn’t love the fact that he’s still fighting. But no matter what, if I let Diego go, he’ll probably end up somewhere else. That’s what I was thinking at the time. I love the kid so he wanted one more fight so I was going to give it to him and then all hell broke loose and here we are today.”
