Jerry Lawler Admits He Had COVID In January, Clarifies WWE Vaccination Policy
Jerry Lawler admits that he had previously been COVID-19 positive at the start of 2021 and says WWE wants its employees to be fully vaccinated by June.
Jerry “The King” Lawler has been a professional wrestler for 50 years and in that time, even though he had the first well-known Empty Arena Match against Terry Funk in the Mid-South Coliseum, he could have never imagined that a global pandemic would one day force the entire industry to operate without live audiences an attendance.
Now, as WWE prepares to resume a normal touring schedule beginning on July 16, Jerry Lawler has taken to Twitter to post a now-deleted photo of himself getting the COVID vaccine, explaining that WWE wants “everyone” to be vaccinated by June, before the Hell in a Cell Pay-per-view on June 20. Lawler would clarify his original tweet after deleting it.
Lawler says WWE has the same COVID policy as the MLB, if you are fully vaccinated, you are okay to be without a mask but if not, they want people masked up and tested.
Jerry also confirmed that he didn’t get the vaccine sooner because he had COVID at the beginning of the year and felt that he had the antibodies in his system.

Some people question why I waited so long to get vaccinated. It’s because I already had covid back around the 1st of the year I had antibodies and didn’t feel the need.

In trying to be brief, my earlier tweet may have given the wrong impression. WWE never forces anyone to be vaccinated. Their new policy is, if you’re fully vaccinated you no longer have to be tested or wear a mask at events. I hate the masks! I love the new WWE policy! pic.twitter.com/iQy09PscyT
