TAELER: AEW Celebrates Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida
This weekend ahead of their signature Double or Nothing PPV, AEW prepares to celebrate their very own Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida. Over the weekend it was made official that AEW’s Women’s Champion in now in the All Elite Wrestling books as being AEW’s reigning and defending Women’s Champion for one whole year. A feat not so easily accomplished. Especially when Shida herself currently holds the only championship title of the AEW Women’s Division. All eyes are definitely on Hikaru Shida and her coveted championship gold. As AEW prepares to celebrate Shida’s accolades as AEW Women’s Champion, her grasp on her highly sought after position perhaps becomes tenuous at best with the heat rising between her and her biggest foe to date – Dr. Britt Baker, DMD.
While All Elite Wrestling heads into their three day event revolving around their upcoming Double or Nothing PPV, a PPV including meet and greets, as well as Jade Cargill’s open challenge, on top of Hikaru Shida’s celebration, one can safely assume that the champion herself will be far less celebratory and far more focused on the battle ahead of her on Sunday. Time and again Shida has proved her no nonsense competitive nature to which her win/loss record is proof of her formidable determination to succeed. As she stands right now, Shida in one year has amassed quite the resume that reflects her dedicated work ethic. In the short time that the AEW Women’s Title has been in existence, Hikaru Shida has fought for it, taken it, defended it, and has risen to each and every obstacle headed her way. All competitors aiming with the sole purpose of taking that very same belt away from her. A goal that none have been able to accomplish. Penelope Ford, Big Swole, Abadon, Serena Deeb, Thunder Rosa, Anna Jay… the list goes on.
Walking into the celebration prior to the Double or Nothing PPV, Hikaru Shida will be celebrated as the third AEW Women’s Champion and arguably the most notable title run that as it stands now will reach over one year when Shida squares off with Britt Baker at Double or Nothing. This weekend AEW will celebrate the hard fought journey of Hikaru Shida from her very first bouts aiming to be the first AEW Women’s Champion. A struggle that would see her fall in order to rise. AEW will celebrate how she fought her way through each and every female competitor the company sent her way to ultimately become the third and fiercely dominant AEW Women’s Champion worthy of celebration. Celebrating her passion for her craft and her wrestling knowledge that helped elevate the Women’s Division as all rose up to meet Shida on her level and beyond. AEW will celebrate the way in which Hikaru Shida would surpass all other AEW Champions to become the longest reigning AEW Champion, a record marked on February 25, 2021 when Shida surpassed one of the most successful and highly regarded champions in the AEW History books…
AEW will celebrate Hikaru Shida’s work ethic that saw her beat out the prior AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, who was the longest reigning AEW Champ at a record of over 275+ days. Longer than former TNT Champion Darby Allin. Longer still than the current AEW World Champion Kenny Omega who ended Jon Moxley’s reign. And even longer still than the AEW Men’s Tag Team Champions – The Young Bucks. As AEW celebrates the accomplishments of Hikaru Shida leading up to the Double or Nothing PPV on Sunday, one has to wonder if this will be Shida’s last hurrah as AEW Women’s Champion. After the celebration, she’ll certainly walk into the Double or Nothing PPV as the longest reigning and defending AEW champion with a record-breaking supreme reign of 372 days. Will this be just another pit stop in the journey of Hikaru Shida and her ascent to total dominance in AEW? Cheers to Hikaru Shida and the legacy she continues to build in the realm of Women’s Wrestling and the in ring caliber she’s exhibited time and again as she’s taken on every competitor and pushed herself to unimaginable new heights as a Pro Athlete and AEW Superstar. Tune in live this weekend for AEW’s Double or Nothing PPV live this Sunday to see if the reign of Shida continues on to day number 373 as AEW Women’s Champion…
