Xavier Woods Didn’t Want To Know Outcome Of Kofi Kingston vs. Daniel Bryan At WrestleMania 35

Xavier Woods was ringside for one of the greatest moments in wrestling history, cheering on his fellow New Day brother and watching Kofi Kingston capture the WWE Title at WrestleMania 35.

The moment was named the best WWE Title change of the last decade by WWE and capped off Kofi’s 11-year journey to the top of the mountain.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Woods reflected on the moment and how it reaffirmed every decision he made in his life to get to WWE.

“I didn’t know what was going to happen. I said, ‘Don’t tell me.’ If the outcome is told to me and it changes mid-match, I don’t know what I’m going to do. So, don’t tell me a thing. I knew what we had to do at the end, but I didn’t know anything after that. I assumed, but no. All of that was so real because it was something that made it all real. Not that it wasn’t real before because we got to do amazing stuff up until that point, but this was the thing that said it’s not just us having fun and having a good time and a good laugh. We created something that is worth what we believe it’s worth. Now everyone sees what it’s worth. It’s not just wrestling. It’s not just Kofi, not just Big E, not just me, it’s everyone. Everyone who has been in a situation where you walk into work and you do everything humanly possible to move ahead and you just can’t. As you’re there and crushing it, you see so many people with no experience or very little experience or who haven’t done anything close to the things you’ve done or been through, and they’re flying past you with no one saying a word to you about you and your position. At that point and that moment, it made every decision I had made to get to WWE, get to Kofi and E, get to that WrestleMania moment; it made every single one correct. You never know if you’re making the right choice. You have an idea, but you don’t know,” he said.

Woods continued by recalling life-altering decisions and how they shaped who he was and who he wanted to become as a pro wrestler.

“I had really bad stage fright and my friend in high school my senior year said, ‘You should join me and the boys.’ I said, ‘I’m not going to get up on stage and sing and dance in front of people.’ She said, ‘You want to be a pro wrestler don’t you? You have to do that in front of people and you have stage fright. You do this and it’s a lot weirder than fighting with people.’ In my head, that was a choice I made to get closer to WWE. Being a cheerleader for a year in college was a choice I made to get more agile to get closer to WWE. Adding the trombone from my childhood to get me closer to what I wanted in WWE. Seeing Kofi win the title and being right there for it, made me realize that for myself, I had made all the right decisions and they culminated in allowing me to be part of this incredible moment. It meant so much for me, more than anyone would ever know,” stated Woods.

KofiMania 2 may be upon fans as Kingston scored victories over Randy Orton and WWE Champion Bobby Lashley on the May 17 episode of WWE Raw.
