Eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao announced that he will face current WBC and IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. in a title fight on August 21 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Pacquiao confirmed the news across his social media platforms with a promotional poster of the matchup, with Spence Jr. following suit shortly after with a similar post to his Instagram account saying “Done deal! see ya’ll in Vegas for the biggest fight of the year.”

Spence Jr. is 27-0 as a professional and last competed against Danny Garcia in December 2020, where he won via a unanimous decision. The 31-year-old also has victories over Shawn Porter, Mikey Garcia, Lamont Peterson, and Kell Brook. Pacquiao on the other hand is 62-7-2 overall in his pro career and is 5-1 in his last six fights with his most recent outing coming against former unified welterweight champion Keith Thurman back in July 2019 where the Filipino Senator won a split-decision. He handed Thurman the first defeat of his career with the win and became the WBA welterweight champion, but was later stripped of the title because of inactivity.
