Claudia Gadelha/Karolina Kowalkiewicz Set In #1 vs. #2 Clash
A women’s strawweight division fight is set for UFC 212 as #1 Claudia Gadelha takes on #2 Karolina Kowalkiewicz,
Gadelha (14-2-0) has won three of five fights under the UFC banner, with those three victories coming over the trio of Tina Lahdemaki, Jessica Aguilar and Cortney Casey. Gadelha has only suffered two losses in her professional MMA career, with both of those losses coming to current UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Gadelha also competed one time under the Invicta Fighting Championships banner, defeating Ayaka Hamasaki at Invicta FC 6.
Kowalkiewicz (10-1-0) will be competing for the first time since losing a women’s strawweight title fight to Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 205. Kowalkiewicz had won three fights in the UFC prior to that defeat, with those three wins coming over Randa Markos, Heather Clark and Rose Namajunas. Kowalkiewicz is alos a longtime veteran of the KSW MMA promotion out of Poland, where she earned five of her ten professional MMA wins.
The fight will be an instrumental one in the strawweight division, which will see Jedrzejczyk defend against Jessica Andrade at UFC 211.
UFC 212 takes place on Saturday, June 3 from a location to be announced in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil with Jose Aldo and Max Holloway headlining.
