WWE Disbands Talent Management Group After Operating For Only Five Weeks
Farwell, WWE’s Talent Management Group. We hardly knew ye.
Back in November 2020, WWE launched plans for the new division, saying, “WWE Talent Management Group will deliver best-in-class 360-degree support of Talent across all internal lines of business and key external partners, amplifying Talent brand value and maximizing monetization opportunities for Talent and WWE.”
They began staffing soon after with Amy Tunick hired on to lead as the Senior Vice President. Now, Tunick has shared on her Linkedin profile that after only five weeks, the company decided to go in a different direction and disband the team. Here is what she wrote under her job description:
“I was hired by WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) to build and lead a new talent management division focused on strategic brand-building and monetizing IP for 300+ WWE Superstars. Unexpectedly, the company made a decision to change course and disbanded the new team after just 5 weeks.”
It was reported in October 2020 that several talents met with Vince McMahon to discuss WWE’s newly implemented third-party embargo (namely Twitch and Cameo), but were seemingly unsuccessful as several wrestlers, including AJ Styles, Mia Yim, Cesaro, Aleister Black and Zelina Vega all suspended their channels. Vega was released by WWE soon after on November 13 in what was described by the company as a “breach of contract.” Just six months later, she is back training at the Performance Center.
