W. Morrissey Says His Sights Are Set On Becoming The IMPACT World Champion
W. Morrissey has grand ambitions in IMPACT Wrestling.
The former Big Cass debuted for the promotion last month at Rebellion, replacing Eric Young in Violent By Design’s 8-Man Tag Team match. He made an immediate impression, not only winning the match but doing so in a dominant fashion. In particular, he singled out Willie Mack who took the brunt of the beating. As for why, when speaking with Wrestle Zone’s Bill Pritchard, Morrissey said that it was just a case of ‘wrong place, wrong time.’
“My issue? There’s nothing truly personal against the guy, he’s just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I came back and I was looking to take out some of my frustrations and a lot of my resentment from my past in the wrestling industry,” he explained, “and he just so happened to be across the ring from me when the bell rang that night and he just so happened to piss me off.”
On IMPACT TV, Morrissey said that he was angry with the way everyone turned their backs on him once he hit a rough patch. Furthermore, he said that everyone in the wrestling industry are bad people and that the only difference between himself and them is that he is willing to admit it.
Mack took exception to the Rebellion attack and challenged Morrissey to a match at Under Siege, which was quickly accepted.
As for who he would like to work with after Willie Mack, Morrissey was not hesitant to proclaim his desire to become the IMPACT World Champion. Whether he faces Kenny Omega or someone else to achieve that goal, he doesn’t care. Additionally, he acknowledges that he hasn’t had many matches since returning and is willing to defeat as many people as necessary to reach the pinnacle of IMPACT Wrestling. Here is what he said:
“Willie Mack, to start, is someone that I want to take my frustrations out on. I don’t think anybody gets into the industry and goes into a specific company without their sights set on the top. So, whether it’s Kenny Omega or one of the six people that are in the number one contender’s match this weekend at Under Siege,” Morrissey stated, “whoever ends up being the IMPACT World Champion is someone that I have my sights set on. Whether I have to go through five more people to get to that person, or two more people or 45 people to get to the IMPACT World Champion, that’s where I have my sights set.”
Fightful will have live coverage of IMPACT Under Siege on Saturday, May 15 beginning at 5 p.m. PST with a post-show review by Denise Salcedo immediately following its conclusion.
Kenny Omega is set for 6-Man Tag action at the event as he teams up with The Good Brothers to face Eddie Edwards, David Finlay and Juice Robinson.
