Huntington Beach Mayor Pro Tem Tito Ortiz Files For Unemployment

Despite the fact that he is a true figure of authority now, Tito Ortiz appears to be in some trouble financially.

TMZ has reported that Ortiz, the mayor pro tem of Huntington Beach, California, filed for unemployment after the fact that he was sworn in. With a salary of about $1,500 per month with stipends, Ortiz claimed he hasn’t been able to do his job in a full-time role due to the pandemic. This is during a time in which he has been skeptical of the virus.

However, Ortiz’s claim isn’t being taken seriously since he has not taken any pay cuts during his time in office.

“[Ortiz has] been receiving the same amount of wages and hours.” Huntington Beach Mayor Kim Carr ended up telling NBC4 in L.A.

This has not been the first time Ortiz has been at the center of controversy within politics. Carr believes Ortiz’s claim may end up being looking into as fraud.

Ortiz has not officially responded regarding the recent events, but he has posted on social media a simple inspirational quote.

Making his MMA debut in 1997 for the UFC, Ortiz would become UFC light heavyweight champion in 2000. After going 1-7-1 in nine fights with the UFC, Ortiz would join Bellator in 2014. He ended up going 3-1 with the promotion and is currently on a three-fight win streak. Ortiz’s last fight was a submission win over Alberto El Patron at Combate Americas 51 in 2019.

Ortiz currently lives in a multimillion-dollar house in Huntington Harbour, owns multiple cars, and has a boat during the time in which he has filed for unemployment.
