Brian Myers Discusses The Believability Of Feuding With His Best Friend On IMPACT Television
Brian Myers doesn’t actually hate his best friend.
Speaking with the Wrestling Perspective Podcast, the IMPACT Superstar discussed his forthcoming match with Matt Cardona at Rebellion and the believability of him feuding with his longtime friend. The two have known each other since they were 18 years old, have worked together in WWE and now IMPACT, and co-run the successful Major Pod Network. As for their “Grudge Match,” Myers believes fans are smart enough to know how the business works. He said the following:
“I think wrestling has evolved to where we’re movie stars, and that’s where it should be. If you go to a movie, you don’t sit there and go, ‘Oh this is bullshit, Tom Cruise isn’t a secret agent. Blah blah blah. I can’t get into this.’ That’s what wrestling is. It’s the same shit. I’m sorry, but all these old-timers that have done interviews, like I’m doing right now, and they’ve exposed this for years, so if they’re sad about it, it’s their fucking fault. Everyone knows how it works. It’s entertainment. Sit back and enjoy it for what it is. Do I hate Matt Cardona? Absolutely not. He’s one of my best friends. Am I thrilled that we’re going to get this opportunity on Sunday to share the ring, with a guy that I’ve known since I was 18 [years old], my best friend, my business partner, and have our first one-on-one match on PPV? Yes, that’s freaking awesome! At IMPACT Wrestling, The Most Professional Wrestler Brian Myers is a complete scumbag piece of shit. I hope people hate my guts for that two hours that they watch IMPACT on AXS TV and the PPV, whenever it is. But if you’re really a fan of Brian Myers, you know I’m a family man and I’m a wholesome dude and I got a lot going on. it is what it is, I play this character and that’s what it is. Still awesome, still great. Sit back and enjoy it. I’m sorry, but to think otherwise is just kind of foolish at this point.”
Fightful will have live coverage of IMPACT Rebellion on Sunday, April 25 beginning at 5 p.m. PST.
