Jacare Not Overlooking Tim Boetsch At UFC 208

Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza will be competing this weekend at UFC 208, where he will be taking on fellow top 15 middleweight Tim Boetsch.

While #15 Boetsch isn’t the highest ranked fighter that Souza has ever faced, he’s still not overlooking his future foe.

“I think he’s very tough, with a very hard right hand that can make it difficult for anyone,” Souza said to MMA Junkie. “He’s a very strong opponent in this division. But I also have a few tricks up my sleeve for him. So I think I’ll do a good job and end this fight before the final bell.”

Souza’s lone loss in the UFC came via a controversial decision to Yoel Romero, who’s expected to challenge UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping sometime this year. Souza, while hoping a middleweight title shot will be in his future, knows he has a job to do and that’s fighting.

“I, honestly, am here to do my job,” Souza said. “My job is not running, it’s fighting. I always say Bisping was a disaster for the middleweight division. Not because he’s the champion, because he did his job masterfully to become champion, but he doesn’t want to fight anyone at the top of the division, and that makes it difficult. He brought the division to a halt.”

UFC 208 takes place on Saturday, February 11 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York with Holly Holm and Germaine De Randamie headlining.
