Batista: I Finished My Career On My Terms, Nothing Is Bringing Me Back
Fans who want Batista to return to the ring will be disappointed to know that he will not give them what they want.
Batista announced his retirement following his match against Triple H at WrestleMania 35 and he has no plans to return.
Appearing at Justice Con, Batista revealed that he just received his second COVID-19 vaccination and was feeling better. The host joked that we’d be seeing Batista deliver some Batista bombs in the near future. The former WWE Champion quickly shot down the notion of a return.
“Don’t put that out there, people will jump all over that [laughs]. ‘He’s coming out of retirement!’ No, I’m not,” he said. “It’s so hard to convince people that I’m actually retired. You have no idea how tough that discussion is. When a professional wrestler retires, they don’t really retire, they kind of retire. If the paycheck or event is big enough, they’ll come out of retirement. It’s just not that way with me. I exited the business in such a storybook way, I could never go back. I’m just done. I got to finish on my own terms and nothing is going to bring me back and take away from that.”
That settles that.
Batista was set to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2020, but the ceremony was delayed a year due to COVID-19. Batista did not take part in the 2021 ceremony, which included the classes of 2020 and 2021, due to previous obligations.
He will be inducted at a future ceremony.
