Heath Slater: I Wanted To Be The Legend Builder In WWE
In 2012, Heath (Heath Slater in WWE) entered into a feud with various legends.
Heath ended up working the likes of Vader, Sid, Doink The Clown, Bob Backlund, and Road Warrior Animal in matches while also being involved in a segment with Roddy Piper, Wendi Richter and Cyndi Lauper.
When asked if he thought this would lead to the start of a big singles push for him Heath told The Angle podcast, “Of course, I did. When I got to the arena and looked on the sheet, it literally said ‘Heath Slater vs. Big Van Vader.’ I was just like, ‘No way, bullshit.’ Then I go and talk to Mark Carano and he’s like, ‘Oh no, it’s happening.’ ‘What? The Big Van Vader?’ ‘Yes.’ They wanted to bring in new legends leading up to Raw 1000 and they just want to feed whoever they wanted to to the legends. I went and talked to Vince and was like, ‘You know how Randy is the Legend Killer? I’ll be the Legend Builder. Let me just go and talk junk about them.’ That part of my career was so fun. I had a blast.”
The storyline ended leading to Heath getting beat up by Bradshaw and Lita as the legends celebrated around him on Raw 1000.
Heath would form 3MB with Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyre shortly after.
Elsewhere during the podcast, Heath provided an update on his health after suffering an injury at IMPACT Bound For Glory in October. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
