NXT TakeOver Tops AEW Dynamite In Viewership On 4/7/21 To End Wednesday Night War

The Wednesday Night War comes to an end. 

ShowBuzzDaily reports NXT drew 768,000 viewers on Wednesday, April 7 for night one of NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver. This number is up from last week’s number of 654,000 viewers. The show also drew a 0.22 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic, up from last week’s 0.21 rating.

NXT outdrew AEW on April 7 in terms of overall viewers as AEW came in with 688,000 viewers on Wednesday. This number is down from last week’s 700,000 viewers. AEW did once again win in the demographic as they drew a 0.28 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic, which is up from last week’s number of 0.26.

This marks the final time AEW and NXT will go head-to-head on Wednesdays at NXT will officially move to Tuesdays beginning April 13. 

The Wednesday Night Wars began on October 2, 2019 with the debut episode of AEW Dynamite. Dynamite drew 1.4 million viewers on that night, easily topping NXT, which drew 891,000 viewers. Following the numbers coming out, NXT put out a statement congratulating AEW, saying the fans won and noting that the ratings war was a marathon and not a sprint. 

In 75 head-to-head weeks, Dynamite won 63 weeks in terms of total viewership and 74 weeks in the 18 to 49 demographic.
