Candice Michelle Says Her Heat With Melina Made For Great Matches
Friction makes fire.
Speaking with Joey Karni of The Angle Podcast, Candice Michelle discussed her time in WWE and, at one point, was told that Melina named her as her favorite opponent in WWE. The former Women’s Champion then shared that there was very serious heat between the two and that while it made for great matches, it also made them incredibly difficult to put together. She said the following:
“What I love about our matches — because we had very serious heat, internal and external. Makes for great matches and it makes it very difficult to put together a match. But at the end of the day, I’ve given her so much credit because because of that, because she didn’t believe in me, because she didn’t think I was good enough, it made me fight harder. As we grew up after wrestling I’ll never forget the time when I had the opportunity to actually just thank her because it’s what started to push me so hard to make it happen.”
Candice Michelle won the Women’s Championship in June 2007 from Melina, holding the belt for over 100 days. Her time with WWE ended in the Summer of 2009. She recently returned at the Raw Reunion in July 2019, winning the 24/7 Championship.
Melina is a 3-time WWE Women’s Champion and 2-time Divas Champion. Her full-time tenure with WWE ended in August 2011. She also appeared at the Raw Reunion, and then again more recently on Raw Legends Night.
