The UFC women’s strawweight champion Zhang Weili has reacted to Mike Tyson’s comments about how Rose Namajunas will “destroy her” — Fightful has you informed on this story and all of the other news in the world of combat sports.

Weili Zhang reacts to Mike Tyson’s comments

Weili Zhang is set to defend her women’s strawweight title against the division’s former champion Rose Namajunas at UFC 261.

Most people are expecting the fight to be an extremely competitive fight which will most likely be a back and forth one. However, former heavyweight boxing world champion Mike Tyson doesn’t see the bout going that way.

On a recent episode of Tyson’s podcast, “Hotboxin” featuring the UFC president Dana White, the former boxing world champion made a comment about how he thought that Namajunas will “destroy” Zhang when they meet in April.

In an interview with China Global Television Network Zhang reacted to Tyson’s comments by saying “Tyson has no right to comment because he knows nothing about MMA. He knows nothing about me, I will not be affected, but do my best instead, and I suggest Tyson try MMA himself.”

Zhang did not seem best pleased with Tyson’s comments and she responded in a way that we have never really seen from her before.

How do you think the fight between Weili and Namajunas will play out at UFC 261?

Stipe Miocic says Francis Ngannou will not be the champion until “I’m done

Stipe Miocic has seemed extremely confident in the lead-up to his rematch with Francis Ngannou this upcoming weekend at UFC 260.

It was clear that Miocic is very confident by the way he was speaking at the UFC 260 pre-fight press conference.

Miocic, who dominated Ngannou in their first fight is very confident that he has got better and he will beat Ngannou again.

Miocic said “I’m more efficient. Just overall. I’ve learned more about my body. I’m stronger. I’m lighter, but I’m stronger, I’m faster. My conditioning (is better),” Miocic said to ESPN. “You know they say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks but I feel like I’ve learned a lot. I’m getting better each day thanks to my coaches. He’s getting better too. He’s still young and he’s hungry, and he wants something that I have. Unfortunately, I’m the champion and I’m not giving it up. He won’t be champ until I’m done.”

Do you think that Miocic can dominate Ngannou this weekend as he did in the first fight?

Dan Hardy believes that Dana White does not know the full extent of his situation with Herb Dean

In 2020, former UFC commentator Dan Hardy was involved in a heated situation with MMA referee Hern Dean after Dean stopped a fight between Jai Herbert and Francisco Trinaldo quite late.

Since then, Hardy has been released from the UFC due to having a heated disagreement backstage with a member of staff at the UFC.

Hardy has spoken out about what really happened in the situation and he believes that the UFC president Dana White does not understand the full extent of the situation.

In an interview with Submission Radio, Hardy said “There’s a monitor in front of me that says Dell on the back, That’s my monitor for the fights. And if you look at the photo, it’s Herb’s arm that is over my monitor. I’m standing at my desk, ready to turn around because we’re doing separated interviews. Trinaldo’s already made his way out of the octagon. So, I’ve got to turn around and face a camera that’s behind me. But in the process of me standing up and taking my headset off to turn around and face the camera, I noticed that Herb is already on his way over to my desk from the octagon. And I know he said that he didn’t know who it was, but that’s nonsense. Because if you watch the end of the fight, you’ll see he turns and he points at me through the cage. He knew it was me that shouted it. Not in the history of the UFC has a fight ever been stopped by the commission yelling ‘stop the fight.’”

Hardy also went on to say “And it’s not about Herb, but like, generally we have mistakes made consistently in the sport. And it’s one thing if it’s a no-contest instead of a DQ. We’re talking about maybe thirty grand difference in Darren Stewart’s pocket. But the reality is, it’s a mistake. That wasn’t a no contest, it was a disqualification. Like, bullshit about baiting a knee to the head. So, what? It’s still an illegal shot. It’s still an illegal knee to the head. And not in any jurisdiction aside from Pride rules is that OK.

Hardy also went on to say that White did not understand the full extent of the situation with Dean which may have further accelerated his release from the promotion.

Randy Couture gives his opinions on Jon Jones’ move to heavyweight

It is fair to say that Randy Couture knows a thing or two about fighting at a world-class level in two UFC divisions and he has now given his opinions on Jon Jones’ move from light heavyweight to heavyweight.

In an interview with MMA Fighting, Couture spoke about how he thinks Jones will do when he makes his heavyweight debut.

Couture said “It will be interesting to see how he works around bigger, stronger guys, cause that is a challenge. You’ve got to approach them differently. You don’t want to go head up with a guy that’s that big and that strong.”

Couture also compared his frame moving from light heavyweight to heavyweight to Jones’.

Couture said “I’ll be interested to see, he’s a big guy, he’s a tall guy. I think he’s taller than I am. I think he’s 6-foot-3, I’m only 6-foot-1. He certainly has the frame to put on the mass, and technically, he’s as good as anybody.

Do you agree with Couture’s comments?

Dana White says he is “thinking about doing Julianna Pena vs Amanda Nunes

When Amanda Nunes dominated Megan Anderson and retained her women’s featherweight belt, it seemed like there was nobody left to challenge Nunes.

Since then, UFC women’s bantamweight contender Julianna Pena has really campaigned for herself to be given a shot against Nunes as she believes that she has the style to beat Nunes.

It now seems that UFC president Dana White is also interested in making the fight.

Speaking to TMZ, White said “Right now, alright, I’ll give you a little something that we’re talking about right now. So Julianna Pena has been driving me fucking bananas, okay? She Will not stop terrorizing me that she deserves this fight. ‘Amanda Nunes this, Amanda Nunes that, Amanda’s ducking her, Amanda doesn’t want her because the style doesn’t match up well for Amanda.’ So I’m thinking about doing Pena and Nunes.

Do you think that Pena can actually give Nunes some problems or will it be another easy win for the GOAT?

Marion Reneau releases statement saying that she will be retiring after she fights Miesha Tate

It was announced earlier this week that the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate will be making a return to the Octagon against Marion Reneau.

With Tate announcing her return, it has lead Reneau to announce that her fight against Tate will be the last of her MMA career.

Sean O’Malley gives his prediction on Jake Paul vs Ben Askren

Whilst speaking to multiple media outlets earlier this week before his return to the Octagon at UFC 260, UFC bantamweight Sean O’Malley gave his prediction on how he sees the boxing match between Jake Paul and Ben Askren going down.

When asked to give his prediction, O’Malley said “I want to say Jake (wins) because he’s going to be a good boxer, but Ben’s such a good competitor. It’s not going to be a good boxing fight, it’s going to be grueling. I hope Jake doesn’t come in there and put his lights out in the first round, he’ll gas. I think Ben will be there for the full eight rounds, I don’t think Ben’s going to gas. If Jake stays calm during fight week, stays calm during fight day, doesn’t blow his load in the first couple rounds, then I think he can outbox him. If he stays behind his jab and doesn’t let Ben do what he wants to do, then I think Jake can get the job done.”

Grant Dawson defends his callout of Clay Guida

Grant Dawson is coming off a late stoppage win over Brazilian veteran Leonardo Santos.

After the fight, Dawson used his time on the mic to call out UFC veteran Clay Guida.

Many people criticized Dawson for calling out Guida who is clearly on the decline.

Dawson has finally clapped back at the critics in an interview with BJPenn.com where he said “Who cares? I’m here to move my career forward. If you don’t think Clay Guida progresses my career you don’t know this sport? How does beating Guida do anything but help me. We are both coming off a win, he has a bigger name than I do, I don’t get how that fight doesn’t make sense. To me, the fight makes perfect sense. So, I’m your guy Clay Guida. I also believe Santos is a better fighter than Guida but if I beat Guida I get more fans and more respect.”

Neil Magny rejects Khamzat Chimaev’s request to fight in July

Earlier this week Khamzat Chimaev announced that he would not be retiring and that he will be coming back to beat everyone who is put in front of him.

Chimaev’s number one target in a return fight is Neil Magny.

However, Magny does not seem keen on the fight as he wants to fight before July as he does not want to wait that long.

See the message which Magny sent to Damon Martin below.
