Derek Brunson (No. 7) vs. Kevin Holland (No. 10)

Round One: Our main event of the evening between two middleweight contenders that hope to make the leap into title contention is officially underway. Holland starts the action with a front kick to the face that partially lands but Brunson drills Holland with a lunging left hook which sends Holland to the mat and Brunson ends up in top position. Brunson lands an elbow to the head and follows it up with an elbow to the body. Brunson is content to put his entire body weight onto Holland and attempt to tire him out. Holland is very vocal while on bottom in vintage Kevin Holland fashion. Brunson lands a few shots of ground and pound and is in no rush to change position. Brunson lands a heavy left elbow and follows it up with another shot that finds a home. Brunson hysterically covers Holland’s mouth while Holland continues to yell at him. Holland finally scrambles to his feet but the buzzer sounds and the opening frame comes to a close.

Round Two: Before the second round begins, Holland is seen talking to UFC President Dana White and the recently retired former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, who are both seated at octagon-side. The second round is finally underway and Brunson goes right for the clinch but Holland is able to avoid and takedown attempt. Holland drills Brunson with a right hand that sends Brunson to the many but Brunson catches a Holland kick attempt and uses it to land a takedown. Brunson ends up in mount, Holland scrambles out of danger but Brunson ends up back in top position and attempts a head and arm choke. Brunson transitions and strengthens the hold but Holland does a great job of rolling out of danger and gets back to the feet. Brunson immediately goes for another level change and again gets Holland to the mat. Brunson lands a few shots of ground and pound and the buzzer sounds which will send this one to a third round.

Round Three: The third round is underway and Holland lands a straight right to open the frame. Brunson shoots for yet another takedown and it’s another successful attempt. Holland teases an armbar but Brunson stands up to avoid any danger and comes right back down into top control. Holland lands a few elbows from the bottom that find a home but Brunson counters with a few shots of his own. Brunson lands an elbow and a hook to the body. Brunson continues to land some ground and pound but nothing that seems too significant and the veteran rides out the rest of the round on top and this one is headed to main event rounds.

Round Four: Our main event is officially into the fourth round, somewhere where neither Brunson nor Holland have ever been in their career. Holland lands a straight left to open the round and follows it up with a right hook that stuns Brunson. Holland stymies a Brunson takedown attempt but Brunson again initiates the clinch and is able to trip Holland to the mat and land in top control. Holland briefly gets back up to his feet but Brunson gets him back to the mat. Brunson lands a few more shots of ground and pound and referee Herb Dean warns Brunson to work a bit more or he’ll stand them up. Holland scrambles back to his feet but Brunson holds on and gets Holland pressed against the fence and that’s where the fourth round will end as the buzzer sounds and we’re heading to a fifth round.

Round Five: The fifth and final round is officially underway and Holland goes for a head kick but Brunson ducks out of trouble. Brunson lands a left hook and Holland counters with a left hook of his own. Brunson shoots for a takedown but Holland stuffs the attempt. Brunson stays clinched up with Holland but Holland is the one who lands a takedown this time. Holland works over Brunson’s body with several left hooks and then picks up and slams Brunson back to the mat. Holland separates and lands a massive right hook and allows Brunson back to the feet but Brunson goes right in for a takedown that lands with just over a minute left in this one. Brunson lands a couple shots on the ground and the pair end the fight on the feet and Holland misses a flying right hook as the buzzer sounds and this one is heading to the judge’s scorecards.

Result – Derek Brunson (No. 7) def. Kevin Holland (No. 10) via unanimous decision (49-45, 49-46, 49-46)

Song Kenan vs. Max Griffin

Round One: Our co-main event of the evening between Song Kenan and Max Griffin is officially underway. Max Griffin immediately gets Kenan clinched up against the cage. Kenan is able to power off the fence and circle back to the center of the octagon. Kenan lands a right hook but Griffin counters with a massive right hook that sends Kenan out cold. What a win for Max Griffin.

Result – Max Griffin def. Song Kenan via KO (2:20, R1)

Cheyanne Buys vs. Montserrat Ruiz

Round One: The ladies take center stage and this one is underway. Ruiz immediately rushes forward and initiates the clinch and gets Buys pressed against the fence. Ruiz goes for a throw but ends up tripping up Buys for a takedown and is able to get this one to the mat with plenty of time to work. Ruiz gets side control and attempts to lock-in a bulldog choke. Ruiz uses the hold to lay into Buys with some heavy shots of ground and pound. Buys does a decent job of not letting the hold get too tight but she’s in an awful position and continues to eat heavy shots from Ruiz. Buys continues to attempt to scramble out of danger but Ruiz isn’t having any of it and spends the balance of the round in the same position and lands several more shots of ground and pound until Buys eventually powers out of the hold and takes Ruiz’s back but the buzzer sounds and the opening round comes to an end.

Round Two: The second round opens and Buys immediately is on the attack and lands a left hook that stuns Ruiz but Ruiz is able to again get Buys pressed against the fence in the clinch. Ruiz drags Buys to the mat and again gets in that side control position with a head and arm hold. Ruiz again lays into Buys with several heavy ground and pound shots and Buys is struggling to get anything going in this spot. Buys tries to scramble out and even throws her legs over the back of Ruiz to attempt a triangle but Ruiz is alert to it. Buys is able to roll out of the hold and get back to her feet but Ruiz gets her right back into that bulldog hold on the mat. Buys again gets out of the hold and ends up on top and Buys lands a big left hook but the buzzer sounds and we’re heading to a final round.

Round Three: The final frame begins and Buys calls for Ruiz to come meet her in the center of the octagon. Ruiz grabs Buys by the back of the head and lands a knee to the body before the pair split and get back to the center of the cage. Buys lands a nice left kick that finds a home on the midsection of Ruiz. Buys lands a right hook that gets the attention of Ruiz, who initiates the clinch and gets Buys against the cage and is able to get the throw and again lock in yet another head and arm hold on a downed Buys. Ruiz lands a few shots of ground and pound but Buys rolls out of danger and ends up on top but Ruiz also continues to roll and ends up back on top position with about 30-seconds remaining in this one. Ruiz rides out the final half-minute on top and unloads with a few heavy shots as the buzzer sounds, signaling an end to the bout but Buys shoves Ruiz and the pair have to be separated by octagon officials ahead of the judge’s decision.

Result – Montserrat Ruiz def. Cheyanne Buys via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-27)

Adrian Yanez vs. Gustavo Lopez

Round One: A pair of bantamweight contending hopefuls are next up. After a touch of the gloves, this one is officially underway. Lopez opens the action with a front kick to the body followed up with a straight right that lands. Yanez answers back with a right hook that finds a home. Yanez steps-in and lands a straight right but Lopez counters with a right hook of his own. Yanez stuns Lopez with a one-two and ends the combo with a right hook that forces Lopez to retreat to the fence. Yanez drills Lopez with a straight left that again sends him against the fence. Yanez lands a pair of left jabs and narrowly missed a massive right hook as the buzzer sounds and the opening frame comes to a close.

Round Two: The second round begins and Yanez opens the action with a high kick that just misses the mark. Yanez lands a vicious right hook that sends Lopez to the mat but he’s able to scramble back to his feet, however is still visibly feeling the effects of the heavy shot from Yanez. Lopez appears to be mostly recovered but still has yet to find his range and put together any sort of offense. Yanez remains on the attack and lands a kick to the body and follows it up with a straight left as the buzzer sounds and this one is headed to a third round.

Round Three: The third and final round is underway and it appears that Lopez needs a finish to steal a win. However, Yanez has other plans and drops Lopez with a massive right hook and referee Chris Tognoni has seen enough. What a performance from Adrian Yanez.

Result – Adrian Yanez def. Gustavo Lopez via KO (0:27, R3)

Tai Tuivasa vs. Harry Hunsucker

Round One: The big boys open the main card and waste no time getting into the action. Hunsucker lands a right hook that finds a home but Tuivasa steps forward and lands a straight left that wobbles Hunsucker and follows it up with a pair of right hooks that send Hunsucker to the canvas and after a few shots of ground and pound, referee Herb Dean has seen enough and puts a stop to this one. Quick work for Tuivasa.

Result – Tai Tuivasa def. Harry Hunsucker via TKO (0:49, R1)
