Earthquake Interrupts NJPW New Japan Cup Night Twelve
New Japan had an unwelcome visitor during its New Japan Cup night twelve event as an earthquake hit the arena in the middle of the event.
The earthquake, which registered as a 7.2 on the Richter scale in Sendai, happened during a six-man tag team bout pitting Kota Ibushi, Kazuchika Okada & Hiroshi Tanahashi against Yujiro Takahashi, Jay White & KENTA.
The action was stopped for roughly 25 minutes before resuming. After safety checks had taken place, the event was able to conclude without issue, though a tsunami warning was issued by Japan.
NJPW canceled a Road to Castle Attack event on February 21 in Fukushima due to an earthquake causing damage to Fukushima’s Toyota Crown Arena on February 13.
