Report: UFC 259 Sells Approximately 800,000 PPV

UFC 259 performed ably, but could not cross the 1 million threshold despite three title fights.

A new report from Sports Business Journal’s John Ourand indicates that UFC 259 sold approximately 600,000 domestically. It drove approximately 200,000 pay-per-view sales overseas for an estimated grand total of 800,000 buys.

UFC 259 looks strong at 800,000 buys; however, that is only half of the gargantuan 1.6 million that UFC 257: Poirier vs. McGregor II sold back in January.

UFC 259 boasted three championship bouts: a super-fight between Jan Blachowicz and Israel Adesanya for the UFC light heavyweight title, Amanda Nunes vs. Megan Anderson for the women’s featherweight strap, and Petr Yan vs. Aljamain Sterling for the UFC bantamweight crown.

The pay-per-view event boasted exciting prelims, Blachowicz coming through as the underdog against Adesanya, Nunes absolutely crushing Anderson, and Yan serving up a DQ knee that gifted Sterling the world title.
