Report: Jim Crockett Jr. In ‘Grave Condition’; Dealing With Liver And Kidney Failure

Jim Crockett Jr. is reportedly dealing with very serious health issues.

Jim Crockett Jr. promoted the Mid-Atlantic wrestling territory in the 1970s and 1980s. It is this territory that would eventually be sold to Ted Turner and become WCW, arguably the biggest competition Vince McMahon in the WWE ever had.

The Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling territory is responsible for many of the moments in Ric Flair’s career, including all of the original moments with The Four Horsemen and shortly before the sale to Ted Turner, Jim Crockett Promotions was seen by many as the overall main hub of the National Wrestling Alliance.

According to a new report by Dave Meltzer on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Crockett is in bad health, dealing with liver and kidney failure. Meltzer categorized his condition as “grave” and added, “it’s not looking good.”

Jim Ross also commented on the health issues of Jim Crockett Jr. with a post on Twitter asking fans to extend well wishes to Crockett.

Crockett competed with Vince McMahon in the late 1980s as the WWE national expansion was just beginning. Some of WWE’s longest-running traditions started as events created in direct opposition of Jim Crockett events on the same day. Survivor Series which began as an event held on Thanksgiving, directly opposed Starrcade. The Royal Rumble was initially created as a free event to oppose the Jim Crockett Promotions pay-per-view, Bunkhouse Stampede.

Fightful will continue to monitor the story and report any and all updates.
