Steel Cage Match Between Daniel Bryan And Jey Uso Set For March 5 WWE SmackDown

Daniel Bryan has one more chance to earn a Universal Championship match.

Appearing on Talking Smack, Daniel Bryan spoke about how he felt disheartened to see Edge standing tall after his gruelling Elimination Chamber win and subsequent loss to Roman Reigns. He hates that they’re main eventing the biggest show of the year when he has wrestled more matches in the last eight days than both of them combined this year. Bryan admitted that he is a lot more ambitious than he ever thought.

Paul Heyman then made Bryan an offer. Roman Reigns has authorized a rematch between Jey Uso and Daniel Bryan for the March 5 episode of SmackDown, where if Bryan wins he will be granted a Universal Title match at Fastlane. However, if he loses, Bryan will have to acknowledge Roman Reigns as the Tribal Chief and the very best wrestler on the face of the planet.

Bryan accepted the offer, but with one condition; that the match is contested inside of a steel cage. Heyman claimed that he didn’t have the authority to agree to those terms, which led to Bryan calling him a chicken and saying that Roman Reigns is a coward. Heyman received a text message from Reigns, who gave his approval.

Bryan left the set saying the following; “I want you to give this message to Roman Reigns. I am no longer putting myself on the backburner. I am no longer putting other people first. I am going out to take what’s mine, and that’s the rein that I’ve had before CM Punk, and that’s the best damn wrestler in the world.”

As a result, Daniel Bryan will face Jey Uso next Friday on SmackDown in a Steel Cage match. If he wins, he will go on to face Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at Fastlane on Match 21st.

Uso and Bryan fought to a double count out on February 26th. If you missed any of the action from SmackDown, you can check out Fightful’s full report on the show as well as our review podcast with Sean Ross Sapp and Jeremy Lambert.
