Jon Moxley Wanted To Team Up With Brodie Lee, Thought A Shield-Wyatt Mashup Would Have Been Cool
Jon Moxley had hoped to eventually form a tag team with his friend, Brodie Lee.
Speaking with Metro.co.uk, the former AEW Champion revealed that he stores a lot of ideas in his mind for later, and one of those was to make a run in the tag division. Prior to joining AEW, Moxley was a member of The Shield in WWE where he teamed with Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. According to Moxley, it was one of his former Shield rivals that he saw as the perfect partner.
“I had an idea to eventually one day – I like tag team wrestling, you know? And there’s so many great tag teams here that I wanna get to work with. ‘But it’s like, OK, I’m gonna need a suitable partner, not just any random guy. I want a full, actual good tag team run with a good partner, make a real run at having a run in this tag division.
The guy I was thinking about doing it with was Brodie Lee. He was a good friend, and I wrestled him so many millions of times, our styles would have complemented each other very well. You want somebody who complements you – maybe they do things you don’t do, and vice versa. I thought a Shield-Wyatt mash-up super team would have been a really cool tag team. Me and Brodie could have really gone on a f***ing rampage as a team!”
Brodie Lee sadly passed away on December 26, 2020, after battling a non-COVID-related lung illness.
Moxley is currently feuding with the AEW Champion Kenny Omega. The two men will face-off at Revolution on March 7 in an Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch.
Jon Moxley is set to compete at Bloodsport 5 on Saturday, February 20 when he battles Davey Boy Smith Jr.
Fightful will have full results from Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 5 following the conclusion of the event. You can view the full card for the event by clicking here.
