Bobby Lashley Wants To Face Drew McIntyre Or Brock Lesnar At WrestleMania
Whether it is the WWE Championship or a match against Brock Lesnar, Bobby Lashley still has items on his WWE bucket list to check-off.
Bobby Lashley has accomplished many things in WWE. Outside of Bret Hart, Bobby Lashley was the last individual to have a one-on-one match with Vince McMahon on WWE pay-per-view. Bobby Lashley is the winner of the only Extreme Elimination Chamber match in WWE history, and Bobby Lashley is a multiple-time WWE United States Champion.
However, Bobby Lashley has never held the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. This is something that Bobby Lashley would like to check-off on the biggest stage possible, WrestleMania.
Speaking with Sports Illustrated, Bobby Lashley stated that he wants to fight Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania for the biggest prize in WWE. Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley last clashed for the championship in 2020 at Backlash. In the time since then, Bobby Lashley’s stock has risen thanks to the success of The Hurt Business.
“I want that fight, I want that title,” Lashley says. “Drew is old-school. He fits into any era. He’s tough, he’s real. We have a lot of unfinished business.
“We have history. We’ve met in the ring before, we were tag partners, and we know each other real well. Drew is ‘The Chosen One.’ That’s not me, I’m someone that fought for it. There is so much potential for our fights.”
Another match that Bobby Lashley wants is a fight against Brock Lesnar. Despite their similar backgrounds, Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley have never crossed paths. Bobby Lashley said he would want that match at a WrestleMania even if it meant potentially adding him to a match with Drew McIntyre making it a Triple Threat for the WWE Championship.
“Adding Brock always adds a lot,” Lashley says. “He’s as real as it gets, and he’s someone I want in the ring. So I’m open to that, but me and Drew can do it on our own, too. There are a lot of options, which is great for everyone.”
As it stands right now, Bobby Lashley won’t have to wait long for a triple threat championship match. He is scheduled to defend his WWE United States Championship against Riddle and Keith Lee at WWE Elimination Chamber on Sunday, February 21, 2021.
“I think both Lee and Riddle are phenomenal,” Lashley tells Sports Illustrated. “That doesn’t change that I’m going to whoop both their asses, but I think having them come after me adds a lot of clout to the United States title.”
Fightful will have live coverage of WWE Elimination Chamber on Sunday, February 21 beginning at 6 p.m. eastern.
