Jim Ross: NXT Takeover Was Excellent
Jim Ross says NXT Takeover was excellent.
On Saturday, NXT held their pay-per-view style event NXT Takeover: San Antonio on the WWE Network. The night featured three title matches including the well received NXT Championship match between Bobby Roode and Shinsuke Nakamura. Ross took time in his blog to compliment the athletes and production on the event.
"Watched the NXT Takeover show in my hotel room, Indigo Riverwalk, in SA on the WWE Network via my iPad. Thought it was a helluva pro wrestling TV show headlined by a classic Bobby Roode vs Shinsuke Nakamura main event that told a terrific story. Excellent booking and execution by the two talents. Nakamura's selling was a key to the match and added the necessary drama that put the match over the top. Roode has the look and feel of a legit, main event star on any roster for any company. The NXT Take Over presentation was an excellent, TV show," wrote Ross.
Roode defeated Nakamura for the NXT championship. Both athletes were free agent signings in 2016 from outside promotions. Nakamura came from New Japan Pro Wrestling, Roode came from Impact Wrestling. Now, Roode has declared his title reign will bring in a new era to NXT. Ross would also discuss WWE Royal Rumble and particular matches he enjoyed. He also mentioned the absence of former NXT champion Samoa Joe from the Royal Rumble match.
