Nate Diaz Says Conor McGregor Wanted Out vs. Dustin Poirier
Nate Diaz thinks Conor McGregor resorted to his old ways in his knockout loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 257.
The UFC star spoke to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani marking his first media appearance since his last fight with Jorge Masvidal back at UFC 255. He gave his assessment of the performance of his former rival, telling Helwani that he believes McGregor exposed his weaknesses once again.

The Stockton native covered a variety of other topics in the 40+ minute interview with Helwani including his plans to move on from the lightweight division, the UFC booking a potential trilogy between Poirier and McGregor, YouTuber Jake Paul, and perennial contender Tony Ferguson calling him out, his desire for more activity in 2021, and how he wants a fight with Poirier next at 170 pounds.
“That’s what I would like right now ya, and I think it’s time for that fight for sure,” Diaz said and thinks the promotion should be interested in the fight too. “I believe they (the UFC) should be, what else is he (Poirier) going to do?”
Poirier who has made it clear he wanted his next matchup to be for a title, responded to the callout today and seems very open to the potential fight with Diaz at welterweight.
A fight closer to my natural weight sounds like a great idea
