CM Punk Lands Role On Stephen Amell’s ‘Heels,’ Jokes About Fans’ Desire To See Him In Royal Rumble

CM Punk has agreed to get back into the wrestling ring but not for any wrestling promotion.

Stephen Amell, who has a long history with professional wrestling, has announced that CM Punk will be a part of his upcoming television show on Starz, “Heels.”

The show centers around two brothers and rivals – one a heel, the other a face war over their late father’s wrestling promotion, vying for national attention in small-town Georgia.

Cody Rhodes also has an invitation to appear on the show. In the past, Stephen Amell has wrestled Cody Rhodes at WWE SummerSlam in 2015 and competed against Christopher Daniels at All In in 2018.

In a tweet, Stephen Amell said that CM Punk was officially a part of the show and was nervous when getting back in the ring but Amell jokingly reassured him saying it was like riding a bike.

Tonight is, of course, the WWE Royal Rumble and CM Punk jokingly noted on Twitter after a fan asked for him to return — in response to a tweet that joked he would win the Royal Rumble and punch his ticket to WrestleMania to face Goldberg for the WWE Championship — that this was the first he had heard of anybody wanting him to compete in the Royal Rumble.

CM Punk has not appeared in a wrestling ring in an official capacity since the 2014 Royal Rumble when he entered at number one and lasted until the final four competitors.

Fightful will have live coverage of tonight’s WWE Royal Rumble beginning at 6 p.m. eastern with the kickoff show.
