Peyton Royce On Splitting From Billie Kay: I Feel I Lost My Support System

After being joined at the hip since October 2016 when they formed The Iconic Duo, Peyton Royce and Billie Kay were split up in August 2020.

The split came quickly as The IIconics faced The Riott Squad in a losing team must disband” match at Payback. They were further split up in the 2020 WWE Draft when Royce was drafted to Raw while Kay went to SmackDown.

Speaking to Denise Salcedo of Instinct Culture, Royce discussed wrestling life without her best friend.

“I thought at first it was going to be liberating because we had been a team our whole WWE careers and I absolutely loved our time together. I was looking at the silver lining and how I could make the best of the opportunity to go out and see what I could do on my own. That happened late last year and I still feel like I’m trying to find my footing on my own. Billie is my tag team partner and in real life is my best friend. To not have her with me, even just at work since we work separate days, she is just my support system that I feel I have lost. I’m trying to rebuild that within myself and trying not to rely on somebody else for that. It has been really tough. I’m so happy for her, she’s absolutely killing it on SmackDown and is a comedic genius and thriving. I hope I can get there too,” she said.

When asked how much they still keep in contact, Royce replied, “We text every day, train together at night. We still go to ring training together and go out to lunch. There’s no stopping us. You can’t get in-between Billie and I.”

Royce is currently teaming with Lacey Evans on Raw while Kay is handing out her resume, hoping to score a job with an appropriate party.
