Conor McGregor getting TKO’d by Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 comes with several repurcussions for the “Notorious” one — Fightful has you covered on what else McGregor may have missed out on due to the loss and much more from around the world of combat sports.
Conor McGregor Unsure About Potential Manny Pacquiao Boxing Bout
Following his defeat to Dustin Poirier at UFC 257, the potential for a boxing bout with legendary boxer Manny Pacquaio may be off the docket for the brash-Irishman.
McGregor, 32, was TKO’d by Dustin Poirier in the main event of UFC 257 and the defeat may have nixed any hope for a throwdown between he and Manny Pacquaio, which was rumored to be in the works after the Poirier fight.
“I always did want to focus on my MMA career, but I’m also open,” McGregor told MMA Junkie. “I’ll see what happens. I don’t know what will happen. That Manny fight was happening. That was as good as done, so I don’t know.”
Amanda Ribas Releases Statement Following UFC 257 Loss
The hype train of Amanda Ribas was (at least for the moment) derailed at UFC 257, after she was knocked-out by Marina Rodriguez.
The 27-year old Brazilian released a statement to MMA Fighting following her first loss inside the UFC octagon:
“It happened,” Ribas said. “I thought I fought well in the first round and took it in the second, but it’s a fight. I think she found the right timing, and she deserved it. I’ll be back (to the gym) on Monday and get better on what I have to get better at. Let’s go.”
“I can stay in the room and cry, or go out and enjoy the sun in Abu Dhabi,” joked Ribas. “What do you think I’m going to do? [laughs] Let’s go. Victory didn’t come this time, but I had the victory in my camp. God is in charge. Marina was better, I have to admit that, and I have to evolve.”
According to her father and coach, Marcelo, his daughter is seeking a return in the second quarter of 2021:
“Amanda has no scratch and is ready for the next one already,” said Marcelo. “We’ll go back to our hometown now and train hard because we’ll ask for a fight in April in Las Vegas or May in Abu Dhabi.”
Nate Diaz Blasts Dustin Poirier And Conor McGregor For Suggesting Title Rematch, Sends Warning To Poirier
The rivalry between Nate Diaz and both Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier isn’t ending anytime soon.
After it was seemingly confirmed that undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov wouldn’t be returning to the sport, both Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier expressed interest in a trilogy bout with one another…but this time, for the undisputed UFC lightweight title.
Those comments by McGregor and Poirier didn’t sit well with Nate Diaz.
U and Dp just got choked on ur face the other day by a guy that ran off and didn’t want none especially wit me — , how u gonna fight for a title?
I been here 14 years and no one can do me like that ever in life ..–lol lightweight division

The barrage of words from both Nate and his older brother Nick didn’t stop there.
The fan-favorite brothers’ recovery coach got in the action, posting the following “warning” to Poirier:
John Kavanagh Says Conor McGregor was “most dedicated and motivated” He’s Ever Seen Ahead Of UFC 257
There’s no excuses from Conor McGregor or his camp after his UFC 257 loss against Dustin Poirier.
The former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion’s coach, John Kavanagh went in-depth on how laser-focues McGregor was ahead of his UFC 257 main event:
“I can tell you, I’ve never seen him as dedicated and motivated, training with intensity for as long of a period of time. The year was tipping along but it really became fight camp training six months ago,” Kavanagh told ESPN. “That is more than he has ever done in his career. The Eddie fight was a beautiful fight where he won the second belt and he didn’t have as long or arduous of a training camp for that as he did for this. No, I can absolutely, hand on heart say, Dustin, bested the best Conor I have ever seen.”
Ali Bagautinov Declares For Brave CF Flyweight Tournament, Wants Dustin Ortiz Bout
Former UFC flyweight contender Ali Bagautinov has his eyes set on Brave CF gold after his successful debut at Brave CF 46.
Following his win over Oleg Lichkovakha at Brave CF 46, the Russian-born flyweight wants fellow-former UFC flyweight Dustin Ortiz in the promotion’s flyweight tournament, which includes himself, the aforementioned Dustin Ortiz, Jose Torres, Zach Makovsky and Velimurad Alkhasov.
“I came here to win,” he said. “So Dustin, be ready, I am coming for you,” said Bagautinov after officially signing on to compete in the tournament.
Henry Cejudo Offers “Advice” For Conor McGregor Following UFC 257
Former UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo offered up some advice for fellow “champ champ” Conor McGregor following the latter’s knockout loss at UFC 257.
Cejudo posited that McGregor needs to adopt the “Triple C mindset”:

Dan Hardy Again Takes Aim At Herb Dean Stoppage Decision
Former UFC welterweight turned UFC commentator Dan Hardy renewed his rivalry with longtime UFC referee Herb Dean following UFC 257.
During the Amanda Ribas vs. Marina Rodriguez pay-per-view bout, Rodriguez knocked down Ribas, Dean ran up to seemingly stop the barrage but backed off and a confused Rodriguez was forced to run back towards Ribas and continue the attack before Dean finally saw enough and waved off the bout.
The showing from Dean apparently didn’t sit well with Dan Hardy.

ESPN Plans To Issue Partial Refunds Over Technical Issues During UFC 257
UFC 257 was one of, if not the biggest MMA pay-per-view of all-time, according to UFC President Dana White.
However, many ESPN+ subscribers weren’t able to view the entire main card due to a mass-outage of the ESPN+ application.
“We’re aware that a technical issue prevented a portion of users from accessing part of the ESPN+ pay-per-view event, and we apologize for that experience,” ESPN said in a statement released to Richard Deitsch of The Athletic. “We worked as quickly as possible to identify and resolve the issue.”
Since then, ESPN announced that they are working on sending partial refunds to any users who had trouble streaming the main card.

Georges St-Pierre Comments On Missing Out On Bout Against Khabib Nurmagomedov
Former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion Georges St-Pierre is a bit disappointed that any hope of a bout against undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The hope for the potential super-fight is as close to being gone as possible after Khabib seemingly confirmed he’s done fighting following speaking with UFC President Dana White during UFC 257 weekend.
“I was in the same boat as everybody,” St-Pierre told Michael Bisping on his “Believe You Me” podcast. “I thought maybe he would have called me out to maybe pressure the UFC to organize the fight.”
“It doesn’t mean I would have accepted,” St-Pierre said. “Everybody says, ‘Oh, when is it going to happen?’ I never said I wanted to do it. It depends (on) the conditions too. I could think about it seriously if the conditions are right in terms of the weight class and all that, but there’s no way I’m gonna go down to 155 now. I’m 39 years old and this is out of the window.”
“We’re both about the same size,” admitted St-Pierre. “I’m not gonna lie. I wake up in the morning and I’m about 183 pounds. I’m sure he’s about the same weight as me if not probably bigger. So I think the weight class — it’s like a novelty fight, a superfight — you need to stipulate the rule maybe no weight class or maybe (that) you cannot be more than three percent different in terms of weight. I don’t know but there’s ways to do it. You don’t have to cut weight and damage yourself to do something like that.”
Dan Hooker’s Coach Comments On His Loss At UFC 257
Fresh off his Fight of The Year contending fight against Dustin Poirier, Dan Hooker was hoping to build some momentum by derailing the hype train of newly-signed former Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler at UFC 257.
However, Hooker was unsuccessful in his bid to defeat Chandler, getting knocked-out in the first-round by the Missouri-born Chandler.
Hooker’s coach, Eugene Bareman, who wasn’t able to corner Hooker during the bout due to quarantine procedures in New Zealand, spoke candidly on his pupil’s defeat at UFC 257:
“Top 15 guys, nothing separates them,” Bareman said to Combat TV. “Like I said, it’s equivalent to a 100-meter sprint. Between No. 1 and No. 10, there’s less than a second difference.”
“So it’s not any different in the top 10, top five of the UFC,” said Bareman. “You’re separated by nothing. On any particular day, anyone can win, anyone can be champion. It’s just how close it is. That’s just how it is at the top end.”
