Jon Moxley Says ‘Never Say Never’ Regarding A Potential WWE Return
Jon Moxley would be open to doing business again with WWE in the future.
Although he is currently the top dog in AEW, Jon Moxley spent more than half a decade at the top of WWE television as Dean Ambrose. Throughout his run, he defeated names like John Cena, captured almost every championship WWE had to offer, and even wrestled Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania.
Upon leaving WWE in 2019, Jon Moxley expressed frustration with the creative process and an overall feeling of burnout. Shortly thereafter, he appeared in AEW and has also had a successful run in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. That being said, Jon Moxley knows that you can never say never in the wrestling business.
Speaking in a Bleacher Report AMA, Jon Moxley stated he would be open to listening to a pitch for a potential comeback, noting that he had a mutually beneficial relationship with WWE for years.
“You gotta say ‘never say never,’ because you don’t want to run back what you said years later because you don’t know what’ll happen. Just the creation of AEW was so vital to the wrestling industry, and that’s part of the reason why I’m so proud to be a part of it. I wouldn’t rule out ever doing business with them again, we had a mutually beneficial relationship for a long time.”
In regards to his relationship with his former Shield-mates, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, the former Dean Ambrose said he keeps in touch with them sporadically.
“Very occasionally. Seth’s about to have a kid, so that’s cool. You just get in this world and you get really busy, especially in a pandemic world, everyone is in their own little bubbles. That’s the good thing about wrestling: ‘it’s never goodbye,’ it’s just ‘see you along the way.’ When you go through certain things with people, you’re always bonded.”
As for now, Jon Moxley is happy where he is and he is currently focused on regaining possession of his AEW World Heavyweight Championship, which he lost to Kenny Omega on December 2.
