Max Holloway Says Conor McGregor Rematch “Intrigues” Him
Max Holloway has admitted that he would like the opportunity to run it back with Conor McGregor.
Holloway and McGregor have faced before at the infancy of their UFC careers at UFC Fight Night 26: Shogun vs. Sonnen. “The Notorious” defeated “Blessed” by decision after three rounds, handing Holloway his first loss in the UFC. And if given the chance, the former featherweight champion would love to get that rematch.
“People consider him one of the best in the sport today. And I can’t wait. As a competitor, I would love to (get a rematch). That’s one of the fights that intrigues me,” said Holloway (h/t MMA Junkie). “Like you said, we fought a long time ago, and he knows that, too. But like I said, first thing’s first – we got Kattar and then we figure it out after this.”
Holloway is scheduled to main event the first card of the year at UFC: Fight Island 7 vs. Calvin Kattar and having already lost to featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski twice, he may decide to pursue the lightweight championship to get this fight. McGregor is surely too big to make the 145lb limit and if they are to fight, one would expect the lightweight division to host it.
