Eddie Kingston Recalls ‘F*ck It’ Moment Before Cody Rhodes Match

Eddie Kingston made his AEW debut on the July 22 episode of Dynamite, answering the TNT Title open challenge of Cody Rhodes.

Kingston made an immediate impression with his promo against Cody followed by a No DQ match.

Speaking to Renee Paquette on Oral Session, Kingston recalled things clicking for him moments before he walked in front of the camera.

“Cody was the pressure moment,” said Kingston. “Right before I went out, that’s when I said, ‘Fuck it.’ The guy at Gorilla, who knows that I never want pyro,” he said, ‘Go’ and I went, ‘Fuck it’ and started talking. They had to stop me because I called him Cody Rhodes like three times. I was all the way in Eddie Kingston mode, which is ‘fuck the world, everyone is against me.’ When Tony Khan walks out and is like, ‘Aright, cut.’ I’m like, ‘What the fuck do you want? Oh wait. Hey. Hey Tony. What’s up? What do I have to do?’ I told [Cody], ‘I’m going to put pressure on you and hit you, but you’ll be able to go home to your wife.'”

Kingston lost the match to Cody, but earned himself a contract.

Elsewhere during the podcast, Kingston discussed his post-event speech at the Brodie Lee tribute show. You can find his full comments by clicking here

Kingston is set to face PAC on Wednesday’s Dynamite. Fightful will have full coverage of Dynamite beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
