Michael Chandler: “I Am A Nightmare” For Conor McGregor

Michael Chandler may finally have a fight booked against Dan Hooker in mid-January, but he’s already plotting how he matches up against Conor McGregor.

Chandler commented about how his game matches up brilliantly against the biggest star the UFC has.

“Of course I want my name in that storyline,” Chandler told ESPN (h/t MMAJunkie). “Of course I want my name attached to his. Of course I want that possible fight. Do I think I match up extremely well against Conor? Absolutely.”

“With my wrestling background, plus the power in my hands, plus my ability to mix up the striking with the takedowns, plus my ability to push the pace, I think I am a nightmare for Conor, but I respect what Conor is doing,” he added. “I think Conor is continuing to come into his own.”

For more than a decade, Chandler was one of the faces of Bellator, as a multi-time lightweight champion, that saw him defeat the likes of Eddie Alvarez, Patricky Friere, and Benson Henderson. After signing with the UFC in September, Chandler is finally booked against Dan Hooker at UFC 258, where that fight will function as the co-main event, underneath McGregor’s main-event rematch against Dustin Poirier.
